I’m going to go straight to the point with this post.

I didn’t write much in 2016.

I probably wrote about 3-4 blog posts and that was it.

Although I did write on my self help blog (sergiofelix.me which I now have deleted btw).

There were a lot of things that I did apart from not writing in 2016 though…

Nina Felix, Job Promotion & Email Marketing Cancellation

My wife and I had our very first baby in July so we are now parents to a beautiful 7-month old baby girl named Nina Felix.

I was also promoted on my full time job.

I went from SEO Analyst to Head of Customer Acquisition so now I’m in charge of SEO/SEM, front-end web development and CRO for a big latin american retail company and I manage a team of six experts.

I also decided to cancel my AWeber account (that’s my e-mail autoresponder service) and it was a shame but I honestly was sick of dealing with those lists in it.

I had about 200+ paying customers for a WordPress training I created a few years ago, plus the people who signed up to receive free updates from MarketingWithSergio.com and a few other offers I had in place.

The lists I’m talking about, were beyond unresponsive and I hate to admit this but it was all my fault.

I never sent them updates and whenever I did, it was to offer them some paid product or service so they naturally weren’t interested.

After trying several times to nurture the list and make it responsive again, my patience was completely drained off and I just decided to let go of those subscribers to move on.

I know for a fact, that I’m doing them a disservice by doing this, because I know that plenty of them still wanted to remain in touch with me but there is a time and place for everything and I didn’t feel like dealing with those lists anymore.

What Am I Going To Do In 2017

So I’m going to start from scratch in 2017 and January is already gone so we now have only 11 months left to go in 2017 for all of our pending plans.

Talking about plans, I have huge things prepared for this 2017.

I’m beyond excited to start exploring things I’ve never done (frequently) before such as offline workshops, small public speaking events and things like that.

Those are always challenging things for me but it’s those specific things the ones that keep slowing me down from growing as fast as possible as a business professional.

The Seven Day Internet Marketing Plan Ebook

I recently finished writing my very first formal book!

It’s called “The Seven Day Internet Marketing Plan” and the main idea is that in just seven days, you can have an entire business set up online without touching a single line of code.

In the book I talk about all my internet marketing journey, where did I go wrong, where was I getting distracted, it’s basically all those things you need to avoid and what you should focus on.

The book is not technical at all and I plan to include a free video course that goes with it so you don’t get stuck in any of the recommendations you’ll find inside.

It has taken me a lot of time to find out the perfect strategy for its launch so instead of just keep wasting more time on that, I’m publishing this on Amazon on February 20, 2017.

I was going to do it for next Monday but there is so much that I still need to do that I just wouldn’t be ready and I don’t like working to super tight deadlines anymore.

This is going to sound weird (probably) but my baby has a lot more priority than anything else in life and that includes my online business.

Building My Street Team

A term that is commonly thrown around in the amazon author niche industry are the “street teams”.

This basically consists in having a list of people willing to support your book launch.

It can be people that are already fans of your work, blog subscribers or even students of your coaching programs and that’s where I’ll need your help.

As far as I know, it’s against the rules to ask for a positive review for receiving something in exchange so I’m not even going to ask for a review but I do want to let you know that reviews are what actually make or break a book’s success (most of the times) at least in the Amazon marketplace.

A well known strategy for launching books when you’re a nobody, is to just launch it and set it to be permanently free (I think they call it perma-free or something like that) and the idea is to make sales out of the back-end of your business (you can include higher ticket products, coaching offers, DIY services, etc) and not from selling books alone.

I have done a lot of thinking about this and I don’t want to give it away for free.

I gave away my flagship WordPress training on Udemy for a few months (The WordPress Blueprint For Non-Techie Entrepreneurs) got a few thousands of people enrolled and there was a very low percentage of people actually taking the course so I’m going to move the free line up a little bit with this book and set it to be at least $0.99 USD in the Amazon marketplace.


I was hesitant of writing this blog post because I genuinely don’t even know what I’m going to do with MarketingWithSergio.com

I’ve been thinking of getting rid of the blog and just make it a membership site where I can teach others how to get started online.

From where I’m currently standing, it sounds like a fantastic idea but I think I’ll wait a little bit on that.

For the time being, I want to focus on branding myself again and putting myself out there a bit more first.

So with that said, look out for my upcoming book and if you want to be on top of what I’m doing, you’ll need to sign up to my newsletter again since I deleted the ones I had in the past.

Right now I’m using GetResponse and even though it’s supposed to be super simple to use, it does come with a learning curve.
