Leadership Beyond The Quotes

Ahhh… Leadership Beyond The Quotes finally, the sequel is in my hands!

Before telling you what this is about, I want to tell you a very quick story (don’t worry, it’s brief and highly related).

I don’t know why but it seems like every single time I’m about to start creating my first product, something shady happens.

And it’s always something completely out of the blue. Totally unexpected and bad enough to drive my plans directly to hell.

I wrote about it before on a post which I called Fail Rollercoaster because it showcases not only why you should stand up to these barriers but why you MUST be able to overcome them all the time.

Here’s a Rocky Balboa quote:

And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! ~ Rocky Balboa Speech

…how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

Sounds about right doesn’t it?

And on that post (fail rollercoaster) you can definitely see how I kept moving forward even though I kept finding problem after problem.

Well the past Sunday I had some technical issues with my computer that kept rising one after the other.

I could have just complained about it and repeat to myself how life always conspires against me and separates me from success and blah, blah, blah, BO-RING!

Instead, I chose to roll up my sleeves and roll with the punches. The computer is (apparently) working now so I’m back on track and my motivation is through the roof now.

Can you see the power behind actually meaning and living by a quote?

Motivation – Beyond The Quotes

I learnt how to do stuff like that with a fantastic book called Motivation Beyond The Quotes (written post) that teaches you how to really mean and live by a quote that you like.

It was written by Justin Ledvina and Patrick Griffin.

Two very good friends of mine who have helped me a TON in many different ways since I got started learning about Internet Marketing and to whom I’m really grateful.

They joined forces for a second time and created another wonderful book. The sequel to Motivation Beyond The Quotes which is Leadership Beyond The Quotes.

Leadership – Beyond The Quotes

Well I’m super happy to report I’ve just received my copy of the new book in the mail: Leadership Beyond The Quotes (aff link).

I have only read a few pages so far and I know I’m going to LOVE this book just as much as the first one because the index page’s contents are really interesting.

The books are arranged in a way that you can just read them day by day or you can just read them like a normal book but I like to take my time with these and actually do something that embraces that day’s quote meaning.

If you’re curious about it, I’m on Day 2 as I write this (I just got it yesterday, do the math! lol).

The Small Details That Count

Justin and the rest of the team he’s part of, have been currently trying out several resources to have some sort of a live conference that allows video and audio streaming while having visitors at the same time.

So last week, Justin was trying out some experiments with Skype and a conference room inside Stickam and I decided to watch them work for some time while I worked as well and I ended up helping by giving some feedback on the experiments he was doing.

After the experiment was over, Justin relaxed and asked me what was I focusing on at the moment.

He knows I have been struggling to take the next big step and he’s always keen to help me in anything I need but suddenly changed his question to something like “hey you know what? We should write a book together”.

I did laugh big because I know he’s not joking around when he’s coming up with ideas. (I’ve seen him make them -his ideas- real a lot of times before) so I think he noticed I was visibly nervous about it.

Even though I wasn’t expecting that AT ALL, I told him I was down for it and mentioned I didn’t even have his book on Leadership yet.

I don’t know how much time it took but it was seconds in which he just said something like “what? you don’t have it? oh man… dude, just give me your mailing address”.

It happened so fast that I just remember that we went on to Skype, gave him my mailing address and even after buying HIS OWN book to gift it to me, he suggested that he could just send me a bunch of books if I needed them from Amazon or whatever.

Obviously I smiled and declined -to get more books- but I was super happy and grateful about the awesome detail from him.

Dude, It’s Just “Paper”

I thanked Justin and told him how much I appreciated what he just did and he replied “dude, it’s just paper, no problem”.

The book can probably be just paper (or just a few bucks) but you never forget the small details like these.

All I can remember from my deceased grandmother (my dad’s mother) is one time she gave me a toy that was still in the package (a new toy).

And I was thinking about that the other day, how weird that I actually tried for long time and very hard to remember something else about my grandma from when she was alive and that’s the only ONE memory I have from her.

So whoever is reading this, always remember… the small details always count!

And a huge THANK YOU to my brothers in arms: Justin Ledvina and Patrick Griffin.

Both internet marketing class acts.

Leadership – Beyond The Quotes Unpacking Video

On this video you can watch me unpacking the awesome books sent by Justin Ledvina and making a few comments about them too.

The video is raw and uncut (no music, text, anything) as I’m still working on having an operating system back to normal here.

Great picks although I would focus more on the ones that help me grow in some way, I still see the value on your choices Cararta.

      Thanks for your feedback! ;-)

PS. Extra points for the grammar corrections!

    Hi Sergio,
Thanks for such a great book unboxing…and it was great that the second book got there a lot faster than the first.
It is amazing that your postal service always open your packages…which is very odd…it would be a very inept drugs dealer who tried to import narcotics into Mexico from the U.S. That is not how it works.

Also I am glad that you actually read the books one day at a time…because that was how we hoped people would read them so that they could actually give some thought to the quote they have just read and try and apply it to their own lives.

    Stay focused,

Hey Patrick, it surely did my man, I still can’t believe it.

I don’t know what’s the deal of having ALL of my packages opened but as long as they don’t steal anything, I’m ok with that.

I always follow the rules so if they were meant to be read one day at a time, that’s how I’m going to read them.

Thanks for stopping by and the awesome one hour call consultation Patrick, I still have to figure out how am I going to pay that back. ;-)

    Hi Sergio,

That sounds like an awesome book. I am currently reading a few other books, so I’ll just add it to my wishlist to take a closer look at it once I’m done reading. I am buying most of my books for the Kinde right now, even though I love the paper books as well. It just takes too long to get them from Amazon to Norway and I don’t like carrying the books with me when I’m out walking :)

Hey Jens, it is indeed an awesome book man.

I know what you mean about the paperback books, I’m very odd in that sense: for some books I can just read them on my Kindle and for some others I actually need to have the physical book on my hands.

The first version Motivation Beyond The Quotes (blog post) is available on Kindle already and is also a great read.

Thanks for stopping by man, speak soon! ;-)
