Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 6 Rules On Life

I’ve never been a fan of body building.

Heck, I think I went to a gym for two months when I was in college and that was it.

I mean, I’m a long distance runner.

We’re not even supposed to develop huge bodies to run marathons but let’s get to the point already.

If you’re wondering why the heck are you reading a headline with the name Arnold Schwarzenegger is because I was reading Dan Sumner’s book “Marketing Through My Eyes” and he was saying that we need to stay motivated or else, our business will suffer.

Check this excerpt from his free book:

“A marketers lifestyle allows you to do basically what you want when you want and how you want to.

Now don’t get me wrong here, you do need to work to earn your crust but you can do it when you want to and at which time you want to.

I have been known to work all night and spend the whole day doing what I want to do.

The bottom line is you have freedom.

But with freedom and self employment comes the need for motivation and if you are not  motivated your business will suffer.” ~ Dan Sumner

I’m just like everybody else.

I have ups and lows and sometimes I fantasize about throwing the towel and getting some rest but as soon as I picture myself being bossed around and feeling miserable again, motivation suddenly strikes back!

Personal Reinforcement

I found this video inside a personal reinforcement site (aff link) that talks about:

  • Confidence
  • Creativity
  • Leadership
  • Motivation
  • Personal Development
  • Time Management
  • Focus
  • Organization
  • And many other topics
I think I’m going to write a review on this program very soon but I’m barely starting it so you may have to wait for that. ;-)

How do you motivate yourself?

Any books you recommend, YouTube videos, any particular motivational coaches or even movies?

I normally find a lot of relaxation and motivation when I go running but I haven’t had the time for it, I think I’m actually going to tell you a bit more about this on the next article.

Thanks for reading/watching and hope you have an amazing day today my friend!

I’m an Arnold Schwarzenegger fan ;) I admire him for everything he achieved, not only as an actor but also as a politician.

My motivational movie is… Desperado. I’ve watched it more then 20 times. It doesn’t motivate me by any specific words or something, it is just a movie that I find special and impressive and it makes me believe I can do great things. I can’t really explain why ;)

As for words of wisdom, since we are talking about Hollywood actors, one that impressed me not only as an actor but also by his strange but positive way of thinking is Will Smith. Check this out:

Hey Sorina, I’m a big fan of Will Smith as well!

Desperado wow… I liked that movie and definitely an interesting choice for this matter but maybe I need to watch it a few more times since I have a few other movies above that one. ;-)

Will Smith definitely has a lot to share about positive thinking, thanks for sharing that video, I really enjoyed it! ;-)

Hey Sergio, thanks for the mention man it means a lot.

When I was younger I used to love basketball and watching Michael Jordan was awesome. I loved his videos, he used to make me play harder every time I was on the court.

Today, I motivate myself in similar ways, by training at the gym the same as Arnie and looking up to my peers in the IM industry. The big launches and the million dollar products motivate me to do well, as that is where I would like to be one day. And you don’t get it by sitting on your ass!

If you want it bad enough you will give up all your time to get it:

    Cool post Sergio, cheers man

    Dan Sumner

      My pleasure Dan!

Ahh yes, if my memory is not failing I believe you told me something about trying to go pro in basketball, I’m really glad we got to watch a phenomenon such as MJ.

I’m pretty sure you’ll be reaping the earnings of million dollar launches very soon man.

Thank you for that video and for stopping by Dan, I just remembered I need to start jogging ASAP! lol

      Have a great day ;-)

first time at your blog Sergio. Like the look of it.
Great post, Arnie is great and his 6 rules are excellent for motivation.

    Thanks for these tips

    Hi Sergio

I don’t really know much about Arnold Schwarzenegger apart from his films so it was interesting to see that video and I had a look over on Wikipedia as well. I always found it amusing that a man who was saying ‘hasta la vista, baby’ in a film went on to become Governor of California! You can’t knock his achievements though.

For me The Shawshank Redemption has to be up there as a great motivational film, “Get busy living, or get busy dying”.

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Reply

“Hasta la vista, baby” Haha it really makes you wonder doesn’t it Tim?

I watched “The Shawshank Redemption” but I honestly can’t remember it, going to watch that again and that’s an awesome quote btw.

Thanks for letting me know about that movie and stopping by here Tim, have a great weekend my friend! ;-)

Update: “Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying”. Man I just finished watching that movie and WOW, it’s definitely empowering. Thank You for recommending it Tim!!!

    Great post Sergio!

I can’t believe I haven’t watched or heard of these Schwarzenegger rules before. Loved the video, thanks for sharing it.

As you can tell (by my site), I’m really interest on motivation and learning how to be a better person.

I struggle with discipline (or lack of it), specially when it comes to my health. Really need to start exercising on a daily basis, changing bad eating habits and so forth.

A video I quite enjoy is this:

Wish I could write more, gotta run to wrap up the Friday. Talk to you soon! :)

Hey Rod, well to be honest I was aware Arnold was an over achiever but I didn’t know about those 6 Rules on Life either.

You remind me a lot of Leo Babauta. He used to struggle quite a lot with the things you’re mentioning and I think that creating Zen Habits helped him a lot.

Your site looks pretty Zen to me already so I think you’re on the right path my friend.

Thank you for sharing that video Rod, I had already seen it before “The Hip Hop Preacher” (Eric Thomas) that dude ALWAYS gets me pumped.

One last thing before wishing a great weekend… I just showed your video to my girlfriend and she asked where were you from (when she heard you say English wasn’t your first language) I told her Brazil and she told me you have way better pronunciation skills than I do! haha

So there you go, hope you have a great weekend my man and talk soon! ;-)

      1. Reply

Leo is an outstanding and inspiring guy, I admire him greatly.

This is the only video I’ve watched from Eric Thomas, thanks for giving me the name, I’ll look him up.

hahaha, tell your girlfriend I said thanks! But she’s just trying to be picky on you! ;)

Take care man, enjoy the weekend!

          LOL I will Rod! ;-)

    Hey Sergio,

I have absolutely no idea how you find the time to go through all of these courses, but well done! I’m thinking of joining the personal reinforcement site, for $9.95 a month it has to be worth a look.

Favourite Arnie quote? “I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with Guess on it. I said, Thyroid problem?”

    1. Reply

Hey Rich, well I don’t know either my man, I guess I’m just always learning something new haha

LOL that quote was great and yeah, the site has plenty of great stuff for self development, like I said I may review it once I’m more familiar with the content.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great weekend! ;-)

    Hey Sergio,

I’ve been a huge fan of Arnold (I won’t write his last name, because I know I’ll mess it up). I used to watch all his movies when I was a kid, and then he entered politics. I haven’t been following his political career, but I think that he made his dreams come through and he is a person we should look up to.

Like you said, we should trust ourselves, and being positive and never giving up is so important. I know a lot of people who are negative and are just waiting for things to happen to them. And they think that the only way they’ll get rich is if they win the lottery. Me, I believe in working hard and doing what you love. Nothing comes for free and I also believe that we can do anything we want as long as we want it bad enough :)

    I love watching your progress…

    1. Reply

Hey Jens, I think I have seen many movies from him as well, from his political career I just know he was the California governor and that’s it.

I know many people (including very close relatives) that think the only real way to become rich is by winning the lottery. To me that’s just sad but I guess we all are entitled to have an opinion.

Great feedback Jens, thank you for the kind comment and hope you have a rockin’ weekend my friend! ;-)

Happy you are inspired by Arnold…not one of my favorite people.
Running again might not be a bad choice for you…..heals the mind and the body and gets you
    away from that hypnotizing Screen.
Maybe I missed something somewhere but a busy as you are, working your fingers to the bone
what kind of motivation are you looking for?
If inspiration and creativity are on a downward spiral, it might be from overwork….so some fresh air, sunshine and beach sand might do as much for you as another course!

Hey Cararta, I was looking for some extra daily motivation since I also have ups and lows but don’t worry…

Spending some (unjustified) time in jail today provided me with a lot of creative material and extra motivation. Thanks for stopping by and yeah, I’m going back to jogging as soon as I get some rest! ;-)

Have heard it is easy to get into in Mexico!
Haven’t done that yet, not on my Infamous list of THINGS TO DO!

Family type emergency so will be missing again for a few days.
Take care, Enjoy with a belly laugh my latest video attempt…….can be found on YT user 4mcoo1 or search YT for the title of the post showing below.
        You can even “like” Ha!

Yup jail. Let’s just say it was a very interesting weekend.

Thanks for stopping by Cararta and I hope everything is well with your family. ;-)

PS. I checked out your video, not bad but I don’t think just a bunch of images with background music converts, I don’t have any stats to back that up though.

    Hi Sergio,

You think Arnold Schwarzenegger would have been so popular if he just hanged out with the crowds. He stood out from the crowds! It’s the only way you are ever going to get anywhere in life.

What keeps my battery going is looking at and contemplating on the result I wan to achieve. This makes me cut through a lot of crap that life just brings my way most of the times.

I also like to bike ride along New York harbor where I live. It really opens up the mind.
Thanks for this post Sergio, it also opens up the mind.

Hey Terry, standing out from the crowd, that’s exactly what I’m talking about.

I wasn’t aware you were living in New York. That’s on my bucket list, to live at least for a year over there and I bet that is definitely mind refreshing.

Glad you liked the post and thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts man, it was cool knowing a little bit more about you, take care! ;-)

    Hey bro,
I’ve seen this video before and it really motivates me.
Will Smith is also a great motivator and I saw a few of his “wisdom” video on YouTube.
Besides that I also like this lecture by Rocky to his son… check it out bro! :)

    Well Hello Sergio
Feeling kinda guilty about rule 4 now, as this week was going to be written off due to feeling flatter than a pancake. Time to kick my arse, kill the issue and clarify the big why and remember that I work for an idiot boss who cares nothing for me and my big why.
Just printed out the 6 rules of life now have it on my desk, where it will stay.

Hey Igor, I know exactly how you feel my man, I’ve been there many times before.

And I’m glad that you already have identified the issues and how to fix them. Just keep going at it, it won’t be easy but the rewards will be permanent and HUGE.

Take care and remember to take a quick look at your 6 Rules Of Life board whenever you feel lost. It will make a difference I can assure you that Igor. ;-)

    Hi Sergio

I just thought I would pop over and say Hi .. Motivation in paramount in this business – as well as staying on track. Very wise words. Dan Sumner is a great guy – will take a look at his book as it sounds awsome.

    1. Reply

      Well “Hi” Carl!

When I first got started with Internet Marketing I always placed “Motivation” as the last thing you needed to succeed. Funny how it turns out that without it, you don’t go anywhere either.

I highly recommend signing to Dan Sumner’s list and getting his “Marketing Through My Eyes” book as he brings fresh air in a world where everybody just want to sell you things.

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by my man! ;-)
